Born and raised in Anaheim, California, Cherryl earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts & Humanities from Humboldt State University, along with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and minors in Art and Music. She later completed a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Computer Technologies from the University of La Verne. Throughout her extensive teaching career, Cherryl taught elementary education, developed and instructed computer lab programs, managed school and classroom websites, and mentored fellow educators in curriculum development and educational technology integration. For more than two decades, Cherryl and Ken have been actively involved in ministry. Cherryl served as an administrative assistant in the Women's Ministry at a Southern California church where Ken was a youth pastor. During that time, she participated in two mission trips to an orphanage in China and traveled to Israel, where she was baptized in the Jordan River. Later, as Ken pastored a church in another small town, Cherryl served in a variety of capacities, including leading worship through flute and guitar and teaching in children’s ministry.
In 2014, Cherryl and her husband, Ken, relocated to the Santa Barbara area to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law as they began raising their family. They are grateful grandparents to two grandsons, Jacob and Eli. In 2020, Cherryl and Ken began attending “Anthem in the Field,” where they both found new opportunities to serve the church community. Her passion is to follow Christ’s example by serving others and by encouraging, equipping, and inspiring people to experience the joy and fulfillment of serving.
Courtney is the Communications Coordinator at Anthem Chapel.
Courtney grew up in Los Angeles where she began following Jesus at a young age thanks to her parents, a local church, and a summer camp in the mountains called Hume Lake. She attended Westmont College for her undergrad and Fuller Theological Seminary for her Master’s in Marital and Family Therapy. Her career has mainly been focused on working with children with special needs and their families both in the therapeutic and social work fields. Throughout her life, Courtney has served both vocationally and as a volunteer for local churches holding positions in youth and women’s ministry. Courtney’s heart is to know Jesus and to make Him known and is it is her joy to help do that with Anthem’s team.
Courtney is married to her husband, DJ, and has two sons. You can catch her and her boys on the beach (along with their dog, Squid) cheering on DJ, their favorite surfer.
